Lanesborough Elementary Partnership

A Williams student helping elementary students complete their BioEYES science journal.

Welcome to Lanesborough Elementary School.  The school educates approximately 215 students in Grades pre-kindergarten through sixth and is located 16 miles south of Williamstown.  The Center for Learning in Action creates academic collaborations between Lanesborough Elementary and Williams College.

This partnership, established in fall of 2015, supports field studies to the Williams campus and partners affiliated with Williams.

Collaborations were greatly affected in 2020-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Williams student did connect virtually with LES students through two “Zoom Around the World” virtual assemblies.   A virtual visit to kindergarten classrooms was also arranged.  Virtual content created by Williams students and posted to the Education Outreach Elementary Resources webpage was shared widely with the school community.    We hope to  exploring new collaborations and programs for the 2021-2022 school year.

In the 2019-2020 school year, many grades participated in programming sponsored by Williams College Center for Learning in Action.  Activities included the BioEYES science program, general classroom assistance, community engagement experiences and financial support for field trips to Images Cinema, Hopkins Forest and Sheep Hill.

In the Collaboration link, you will find information about the current programs and how to access opportunities. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.

Beginning in fall 2020, Williams students have created content available to all on the Education Outreach Elementary Resources webpage.
