PSYC 11: Education Policy and Practice

Care about the field of education? Want more experience being a part of schools? Join like-minded folks for a deep dive this winter study!
PSYC 11 allows students to gain fieldwork experience at public, public charter, and independent schools as they consider a career in education. Spend 20+ hours a week working closely with a mentor at a school. Once a week, get together with classmates by a warm fire with some hot tea and treats to share what you’re learning, observing, and processing in your field placement. Come away at the end of Winter Study with an increased understanding of some complexities that go into teaching, learning, curriculum development, administration, funding, and policy in our school system.
Instructors can help arrange internship placements, which must be finalized before the end of the fall semester. A final project or paper will showcase what you have learned and co-curated over the month.
