Brayton Buddies is a volunteer program that began Fall, 2022 and stems from the Assist Program, a student run program that operated until Fall, 2022.  The buddies program evolved out of the growing need for individual 1:1 mentorship in elementary schools.  College students are paired with an elementary student(s) at the discretion of the elementary schools’ Dean of Students and/or Principals based on their assessment of students who would benefit most from having this mentoring relationship.  Such experiences are incredibly enriching for both elementary and college students, providing both individuals with a sense of fulfillment and contributing to an overall sense of well-being.  The buddies generally spend their time together during lunch and recess or class.

This program allows college students to get to know elementary students and hopefully continue to mentor the elementary student during their time at Williams.  One hour, once a week, and one connection can make a difference in a child’s life.
